Art Explorers: Masterworks

$120.00

A six-week creative art series for children

Travel through the world of art while creating your own!

In Art Explorers, children will discover remarkable artists and their work while experimenting with the ideas and elements artists use to create.

Across the six-week series, students will explore artists including Paul Klee, Yayoi Kusama, Robert S. Duncanson, Wassily Kandinsky, and Vincent van Gogh. Each class combines a short artist study with a hands-on project inspired by that artist’s way of seeing and making.

Children will experiment with color, line, shape, pattern, texture, space, movement, and composition while working with a variety of art materials.

Rather than simply copying famous artworks, students will use each artist’s ideas as a starting point for their own creative choices. Children are welcome to interpret the projects in their own way, make more than one piece, and experiment as they work.

The final class becomes an Artist’s Studio, where students will revisit favorite ideas and materials from the series, create artwork of their own choosing, and have time to share and celebrate what they have made!

No previous art experience is required.

6 weekly classes
60 minutes per class
Ages 5+
Small-group enrollment: maximum 8 students
Tuition: $120 per student

This class is taught by Sudha McFadden, artist, musician, and educator. She is the former art and music teacher at Abner Montessori and is an art instructor at Newberry Arts Center and the Columbia Museum of Art. She loves creating classes that help children feel curious, confident, and excited to explore their own creativity!

Payment is due in full before the first class.
